Searching www.oldnews.com, I found some tidbits about the Caubles in Eastland County, Texas, before they came to Fisher County, Texas. From The Herald, Mar 22, 1907, Carbon, Eastland, Texas.
"Miss Vada Cauble visited Misses Minnie and Ola Free Sunday."
My comment: Lavada Lucretia Cauble was the daughter of William Jefferson Alonzo "Bill" Cauble and Julia L. Hardin. Minnie Pearl Free and Ola Annie Free, daughters of Alvin Bennett Free and Emma Jane Waldrep and no relation to the Cauble-Hardins as far as I know.
"Nute and George Clark were driving around Sunday evening. Guess they were looking for them a girl."
My comment: Jasper Newte Clark would later marry Lavada Lucretia Cauble and live in Rotan, Texas. They were known as Big Mama and Nutie Clark and owned several different cafes. My dad called her
simply "Aunt Vada".
"Mrs. Cauble and daughter spent Saturday night with her daughter Mrs. Nannie Wright."
My comment: Mrs. Cauble (Julia Hardin Cauble), my 2nd great-grandmother, and the "daughter" would be Vada (Lavada Lucretia). Nannie Wright would be the other daughter, Nannie Bell Cauble, who married William Napoleon Wright.
“Frank Cauble went to see his girl Sunday evening, or at least he went that way.”
My comment: Frank was one of Lavada Cauble's brothers. He married Eva McClung. I wonder if that was his "girl" in this little blurb in The Herald.
